This benefit covers the necessary transport and accommodation expenses for medical evacuation or repatriation that you undertake during your trip with the insurers prior consent. Based on reasonable recommendation of a medical practitioner appointed by them; including if you contract coronavirus during your trip. Plan limits vary from $500,000 with Budget Plans to unlimited expenses with Comprehensive Plans
Overseas medical expenses
This benefit covers you for emergency medical, hospital and ambulance expenses arising from injury (including surfing), specified medical condition, or ‘automatically covered condition’, new illness (including coronavirus) or death. May include a sub-limit for illness or injury emergency travel expenses for a relative or friend.
Coronavirus travel costs
This benefit may cover you for specific events related to coronavirus, including diagnosed with COVID-19 prior to departure, quarantined due to close contact prior to departure, medical expenses if diagnosed with COVID-19 during trip, required quarantine during trip, or a healthcare worker’s leave being cancelled, or you are being denied boarding due to your suspected infection with coronavirus. Limits vary up to $2,500.
Cancellation or Amendment costs
This benefit provides cover if you must cancel the Journey due to circumstances outside your control. Insurers will not pay more for rearranging your journey than the cancellation costs, which would have been incurred had the journey been cancelled and the value of the unused portion of your prepaid travel or accommodation arrangements that are non-refundable and not recoverable in any other way.
Medical Evacuation and repatriation costs
This benefit may cover you if you have to interrupt your trip after it has begun because you have suffered an illness or injury while you are on your trip and based on the reasonable recommendation of a medical practitioner who is appointed by the insurer, and you need to be evacuated or repatriated.
This benefit covers you if during the Period of Insurance, you suffer a disabling injury, sickness or disease. Rental vehicle insurance excess
Rental Vehicle usually means a campervan/motorhome that does not exceed 6 tonnes, SUV, sedan, station wagon, hatchback, people mover, coupe, convertible, four-wheel drive or mini-bus rented from a licensed motor vehicle rental company or agency. Usually, it will be your responsibility to provide the final repair/loss report to substantiate your claim. Varied limits from nil to $10,000.
